Almost two decades ago our research network set out to describe the current state of the science of implementation and identify what it would take to improve the uptake, fidelity, and outcomes of innovative programs and practices in human services.
Implementation Research: A Synthesis of Literature (2005)
The monograph, Implementation Research: A Synthesis of the Literature, was published 15 years ago in May 2005. Since then the monograph has become a classic in the field of implementation science and still is the only comprehensive and multidisciplinary review and synthesis of the implementation research literature.
What we found then, and what we continue to find, is that systematic implementation practices are essential to any national attempt to use the products of science to improve the lives of citizens. Consequently, a concerted national effort to improve implementation must accompany support for evidence-based practices and other innovations.
